For most teams, last year’s run through the region would be considered a successful season, but not for the Hazard Bulldogs. After winning the state tournament a couple of years ago, nothing short of another state title will suffice.
Hazard lost a majority of their skills players, but return their offensive and defensive lines. With a strong returning line, the Bulldogs will field nearly 20 experienced players. They will also add to the mix eight freshmen that will be looking for some playing time.
As the season is growing near, Coach Dixon has set a short term goal of getting better. “We will not worry about the other team, but worry about ourselves”. “Our long term goals are simple, district, region and state”.
In conclusion, Coach Dixon added, “The boys work really hard, and are excited about football. They are great young kids tat love football. We are excited about working with them each day.”
The Bulldogs will take on the Jaguars of North Laurel on Thursday.
