The Perry County Central football team will be hitting the field this season under new leadership as former Commodore standout Jordan Amis will take the helm. Amis is a recent member of the University of Pikeville football team.
The Commodores lost 12 players off last year’s team that went to the second round of the state playoffs. However, they will be returning five experienced players on the offense, and six on the defense. They will have several strong players coming in to mix into the already talented bunch.
Coach Amis has set a couple short term goals for his team. “We would really like for the players to get use to the new system, and really buy into the ideas and coaching staff.”
“As a coaching staff, we would really like to win the school’s first district title”, Coach Amis added. “So far, the experience has been everything I dreamed it would be, and more. I am ready for the season to begin so I can focus on football.”
The Commodores will have their annual “Meet the Commodores” on Thursday night, and their only scrimmage against North Laurel on Friday.
