Volunteers with the Housing Development Alliance turned out Saturday to help raise the walls on the future house of a local family.

Employees and administrators with the Housing Development Alliance were joined by a few volunteers during a cool and drizzly Saturday morning for the HDA’s annual community house raising. The volunteers pitched in by helping to raise the walls for a Perry County family’s future home on Flyby Hazard Road near the airport. Work was halted at around noon Saturday due to rain, but crews will return to the site Monday and Tuesday to continue work. The Alliance still needs volunteers for those two days next week. Anyone who wants to spend some time helping out a local family can contact the HDA’s office in Hazard at 606-436-0598, or email Jane Rose Britton at janie@housingdevelopmentalliance.org.
