The Perry County Central Commodores on Friday welcomed in the Australian National Team. The Commodores went into the game knowing that they would have to use their quickness to counter the Australians’ size. After a hard fought battle, the Commodores came out with a 68-57 win.

Perry Central got off to a good start, but allowed the Australians to get back in the game. At the end of the first period, the Commodores held the 13-9 lead.

The Commodores pushed the tempo in the second period, taking advantage of the long road trip their opponents have been on. Perry Central soon held a double-digit advantage, and went into the break leading 32-20.

Australia came out of the locker room refreshed and managed to keep pace with Perry Central. With eight minutes remaining to play, the Commodores were up 49-38.

Both teams pulled out all the stops in the fourth quarter, with Australia making a strong comeback. Perry Central, however, was able to stop the rally, and went on to the 68-57 win.

Perry Central (68) Darryl Beatty 5, Braxton Beverly 18 (5 rebounds), Dalton Cornett 23 (16 rebounds), Austin Hill 7 (3 rebounds), Robert McClain 1 (1 rebound), Thomas McClain 4 (2 rebounds), Austin Pray 5 (8 rebounds) and Travis Stacy 5 (2 rebounds).
