Commodores pick up first win of season

The Perry County Central Commodores traveled to Elliot County this past weekend to take on the Lions. The Commodores came out of the gates fast, and didn’t look back as they posted the 10-0 win.

Logan Spencer got the Commodores on the board with the first two goals of the game. Spencer hauled in a loose ball and beat the goalie at the near post, and then redirected a pass from Zac Combs for the second.

Brecken Harvey scored goal number three after beating the outside defender at the six-yard line, and beating the goal to the near post. Dane Mullins took a corner kick from Corey Mullis, which was headed by Dylan Wooton, for the 4-0 Perry Central lead.

The Commodores went up 5-0 on a Chad Smith goal, Smith took a long pass from Dylan Wooton and found himself wide open for the shot.

Logan Spencer finished off his hat-trick after stealing the ball at the 18-yard line, and beating the goalie to the near post. Jeffery Coots closed out the first half scoring on a crossing pass by Zack Combs.

Early in the second half, Chris Saylor gave Perry Central the 8-0 lead on a penalty kick. Tate Wyrick joined the scoring parade with a wide open shot after a pass from Logan Spencer.

The game then ended early at the Commodores went up 10-0 after Dylan Wooton headed in a cross from Chris Saylor. The win evened the Perry Central record at 1-1.

Assists: Zac Combs 1, Zack Combs 1, Corey Mullis 1, Logan Spencer 1, Jeffery Coots 1, Chris Saylor 1 and Dylan Wooton 1. Tyler Holland had the complete game shut out.
