HAZARD – The Hazard High School girls’ basketball team has a new head coach this week after Tyson Gross tendered his resignation to the school board.
Gross also resigned from his position as a teacher at the school, according to a statement released from Superintendent Sandra Johnson on Monday. He was in the midst of his second season as coach of the Lady Bulldogs.
Gross will be replaced by assistant coach Bobby Bowling, who also works as a teacher at Hazard Middle School. He will serve as Hazard’s coach until the end of the season.
Johnson said during a call on Monday that she had received complaints regarding Coach Gross, but declined to elaborate on their nature.
“I had been contacted with some parental concerns, and that’s all I can say about that,” Johnson said.
The Lady Bulldogs are currently 11-5 with at least 10 games remaining in the season.
