Juanita S. Gabbard, 90, of Hazard, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5 at the hospice care center in Hazard.

She was a retired postmaster and the daughter of the late James Smith and the late Alice Sutherland Smith, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer T. Gabbard; son Paul Gabbard; sisters Jeanette Sullivan and Mary J. Jackson; and grandson Brian Gabbard.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Stanford and husband David, and Peggy Riggs and husband Glenn; sons Elmer T. Gabbard, Jr., and Glenn Gabbard and wife Cheryl; sisters Geraldine Roark, Elsie Roll, and Betty Donahue; 11 grandchildren; 13 grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the services were held on Monday, Jan. 7 with Rev. Bill Scott officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Hazard.
