On Thursday, the Perry County Central Lady Commodore soccer team boarded the bus for their second road game of the week. This time, the Lady Commodores made a stop at Belfry to take on the Lady Pirates.
The game was barely started when Kelsey Lowe put the Lady Commodores on top. Lowe took a pass from Ashley Morris and dribbled through the defense for the score.
At the 17-minute mark, Perry Central went up 2-0. Brooke Campbell won a ball at midfield, and took on the defense for a shot from just outside the box.
Belfry drew to within one at the 19-minute mark, but the goal did not stand long as Perry Central answered at minute 26. Ashley Morris ran down a long pass from Kelsey Lowe, and quickly deposited it just outside the goalie’s reach. The 3-1 score stood as the halftime score.
The Lady Commodores’ defense threw a shutout in the second half, while the offense tacked on two more goals. In the 66th minute Kelsey Lowe took on the defense for a one-on-one score, and at the 69th minute Ashley Morris beat the defense for a goal (the goals were the second of the game for Lowe and Morris).
Perry Central went on to win the game by the final count of 5-1.
