HAZARD — A man being lodged at the Kentucky River Regional Jail was hit with additional charges for allegedly assaulting one of the deputies at the jail.
Christopher Hale, 27, of Garner, Ky., was taken to Kentucky River Regional Jail on July 10 after having a warrant served on him. When he was taken to the jail he became belligerent and argumentative, according to the arrest citation. That’s when he allegedly began to fight against jail deputies Kenneth Mosley and Kelly Wooton as they escorted him to a detox cell. He slung a fist at Mosley, according to the citation, and while the first punch missed, an altercation later ensued.
Mosley was reportedly struck in the head, causing head trauma. He was taken to the hospital where he received seven stitches.
Hale was later taken successfully into custody and charged both by the Hazard police officer that brought him to the jail and by Mosley. Detective Bradley Couch charged Hale with one count of menacing. Mosley charged him with second-degree assault of an officer, resisting arrest and three counts of menacing.
Hale is currently being lodged at Kentucky River Regional Jail.
