Nellie Thomas, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 6 at her home in Rochester Hills, Mi.
She was born March 15, 1922 at Blue Diamond, Ky., the daughter of the late Rev. James Monroe Dixon and the late Rebecca Young Dixon. She was a member of the Combs Church of God, and was a crane operator for Ford Motor Company and named and ran the Circle T restaurant for several years. Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Silas Thomas, and a host of brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Billy Thomas and wife Barbara of Rochester Hills; sisters Gladys Browning of Vicco and Esther Irene Banks of Airport Gardens; grandchildren Keith and wife Teresa, Angela and husband Robert, Billy Haskle, Jr. and wife Amy, and Kim and wife David; great-grandchildren James & and wife Amanda, Lura, Keith, Jr. and wife Brittany, Billy Haskle III, Emily, Chloe, Ashley, David, Jr., and Alexis; great-great-grandchild Destiny Hope; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 10 11 a.m. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard with Rev. Roy Johnson, Rev. Merill David Collins and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. The interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery located at Hazard.
