The R. W. Combs Lady Mustangs and the Leatherwood Lady Wildcats kicked off the 2012 girls’ 6th grade Perry County tournament. The Lady Mustangs had little trouble as they rode past the Lady Wildcats 54-13.

The game was tight in the early moments, with the two teams trading baskets. However, as the period wore on, R. W. Combs began to pull away. At the end of the first period, the Lady Mustangs held the 10-6 lead.

The pace picked up to a dizzying level in the second quarter, and R. W. Combs began to widen their margin. Going into the locker room, the Lady Mustangs held the 26-9 advantage.

The onslaught continued in the third period as the Lady Mustangs pushed the margin to the “continuous clock” level. With six minutes to play, R. W. Combs led 42-9.

Both teams cleared their benches in the fourth quarter, and the game came to a quiet end. R. W. Combs moved on in the tournament with the 54-13 win.
