The Leatherwood Wildcats and the Viper Hornets hit the floor in game three of the 6th grade tournament. After a slow start, the Wildcats caught fire, and cruised to the easy win.

Things got off to a slow start for both teams, and scoring was at a premium. Viper was able to take a small lead at 4-2 as the period closed.

Things started to go Leatherwood’s way in the second quarter. They were able to get out on the fast break, and score some easy baskets in transition. Going into the locker room, the Wildcats held the 12-7 advantage.

Things slowed down in the third quarter, with Viper getting the better end of the tally. However, it would not be enough to put them in the lead. With six minutes remaining, Leatherwood was still on top 16-13.

Leatherwood saved their best showing for the final period, as they doubled their score. Viper was unable to keep pace, and eventually fell to the Wildcats 32-18.

Leatherwood (32) Dawson Kersey 12, Jordan Caudill 8, and Justin Williams 12.

Viper (18) Mason Rice 8, Tanner Rice 6, Daewon Craft 2, and C. Morris 2.
