The Hazard Bulldogs won their third consecutive 54th District championship on Wednesday, defeating Perry Central 10-0 in six innings.
Hazard picked up a run in the first inning after a lead-off triple from senior Austin Johnson, who later crossed the plate to give Hazard the 1-0 advantage. The Bulldogs extended the lead to 4-0 after three innings, and would cut the game short after going up 10-0 in the sixth.
Hazard’s Griffin Wells got the win on the mound as the Bulldogs improved to 25-9 on the season. They now look forward to play in the 14th Region tournament.
Perry Central dropped to 13-19 on the season as they also will advance to the region.
