VICCO — A fire that flared up early Friday morning in Vicco has led to suspicions of arson.
An abandoned home in Vicco caught fire around 5 a.m. No one was inside at the time of the fire and no injuries were sustained. Officials say that the home had no electricity and no one living in it.
While it is still in the early phases of investigation, the Perry County deputies working the case said that the circumstances are suspicious.
Investigators were on scene Friday morning after the fire was extinguished, and the home was found to be safe enough for them to enter.
Currently, the state fire marshal has not released what the cause of the fire may be, but since the home was empty and without electricity it does limit the possible causes.
The home is located on Main Street near City Hall. Crews were able to save much of the structure with the damage remaining inside the building.
