HAZARD — A Georgetown man was arrested Tuesday for an alleged armed robbery at a local hotel.
Officers with the Hazard Police Department were called to America’s Best Value Inn on Morton Blvd. at 5:30 p.m. after receiving a report of man breaking in to a hotel room and robbing a couple at gun point. A female witness told police that a male subject entered her room and robbed and assaulted her boyfriend, stealing his wallet, according to a press release from the Hazard Police Department.
The man that was assaulted was taken to the Hazard ARH, while the perpetrator was later identified as 23-year-old Jonathan Moore of Georgetown, police said.
Authorities later received information that Moore was at a residence in Perry County, and police say he was located at an apartment on Railroad Avenue in Combs. Police searched the apartment, and say they found items that connected Moore to the robbery.
Moore was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery. He is currently lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard.
