The Perry County Central Lady Commodores last week hosted the Hazard Lady Bulldogs in softball action. The Lady Commodores started strong, and finished with a flurry to end the game 14-2 in five innings.

The Lady Bulldogs got a couple of runners on base in the first inning, but could not push them across the plate. The Lady Commodores were able to take advantage of their base runners in the bottom of the inning, and went up 4-0 (Whitney Back had a three-run home run).

Neither team was able to touch the dish in the second inning. Hazard came alive in the third inning, loading the bases. The Lady Bulldogs then scored a pair of runs on a misplayed ball in the infield (4-2).

However, the bottom of the frame would prove to be the deciding factor in the game. Perry Central exploded for seven runs, giving them the 11-2 lead.

The fourth inning would be quiet as neither team threatened to score. After holding Hazard scoreless in the top of the fifth inning, Perry Central closed out the game with three runs in the bottom (14-2).

Shelby Sheffield got the win on the mound, going five innings with four hits, seven strikeouts and three walks. Chandler Maggard received the loss, going five innings with 13 hits, one strikeout and three walks. Whitney Back led the way for the Lady Commodores picking up three hits (two homeruns), three runs and seven RBI.

Perry Central (14) Mahayla Walker 1 hit and 3 runs, Pam Sebastian 3 hits and 2 runs, Whitney Back 3 hits (2 HR), 3 runs and 7 RBI, Rachel Curry 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI, Hannah Johnson 1 run, Shelby Sheffield 2 hits and 1 run, Shaelyn Eversole 2 RBI, Katey Pigman 1 hit, 1 run and 2 RBI and Maddison Minks 1 hit, 1 run and 1 RBI.

Hazard (2) Maddison Niece 1 hit and 1 run, Kelsie Handshoe 1 hit, Tori Wells 1 hit, Aaliyah Stupart 1 hit, Paige Williams 1 run.
