Hazard captures 6th straight All ‘A’ title

The Hazard High School boys’ golf team last week won their sixth consecutive 14th Region All A championship title at Sugar Camp Golf Course in Breathitt County.

Hazard posted a team score of 165, besting second place Lee County by 20 strokes. Other teams competing included June Buchanan, Wolfe and Owsley counties, and individual players from Jackson City.

Senior team-captain Jarrod Combs led the Bulldogs in scoring with a two over par 38 for an overall individual second place. Sophomore Hunter Hardy followed with a 40 for overall individual third place. Junior Josh Hollan carded a 41 for an overall individual fourth place. Junior Mack Hall and senior Evan Whitaker each carded scores of 46.

The Bulldogs were set to travel to Eagles Nest Golf Course in Somerset to compete against the other 15 regional All-A championship teams and individuals on Saturday September 8.
