July 4th events scheduled in Perry County

Two weeks from today the nation will be celebrating its 236th birthday, and there will be no shortage of events open to the public in Perry County.

The annual celebration in Vicco will kick off the weekend before the July 4th holiday, with live music on Friday, June 29 at 6:30 p.m. Scheduled to perform are Tyler Stephens, Atomic Solace and Wanted.

The celebration continues in Vicco on Saturday, June 30 at 3 p.m. with Tammy Salley performing gospel music. Other acts on Saturday will include Midlife Crisis at 8 p.m. and Darkhorse at 10:15 p.m. In between Midlife Crisis and Darkhorse will be the city’s annual fireworks show, scheduled to begin at 9:30.

Also included in the Vicco celebration will be the Vicco Bash Duck Race, slated to begin on Saturday, June 30 at 6 p.m. First prize will be $200. Cornhole tournaments will also be held on Friday and Saturday.

The annual Independence Day fireworks display will be held in Hazard on Tuesday, July 3, beginning at 10 p.m. The fireworks will again be displayed above the Black Gold Shopping Centers in the Ky. 15 bypass.

And finally, the annual fireworks celebration at scenic Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park is scheduled for Wednesday, July 4 at dusk, according to officials at the lodge.
