HAZARD — Authorities are currently searching for a man who allegedly escaped from a jail work detail in Hazard Tuesday afternoon.
Officials at the Kentucky River Regional Jail said that James Herald, 33, of Combs, ran away from the detail in Perry County Park. Authorities were searching for him in the Combs area.
Herald had served 33 days of a one-year sentence for shoplifting and public intoxication stemming from two separate cases in 2011 and 2012, according to records in the district clerk’s office in Hazard.
