The Perry County Central Commodores hosted the always though Johnson Central Golden Eagles on Friday. The Commodores dug themselves a hole early but managed to get back in the game, though they were unable to pull off the win.

Johnson Central put the first two touchdowns on the board, taking the 16-0 lead. Perry Central’s first score came with 1:12 in the first period when Austin Pray broke through the line for the one-yard score. The touchdown was set up by a 16-yard grab by Tyler Fugate, and a 26-yard catch by Darryl Beatty. (6-16).

The two teams traded touchdowns in the second period. The Eagles scored first, giving them the 22-6 lead. Austin Pray then scored his second touchdown of the night on a six-yard run. Dylan Wooton added the extra point for to bring the Commodores to within nine at 13-22.

The Commodores and Eagles traded touchdowns again to start the third quarter. Perry Central’s came when Darryl Beatty took the handoff, and quickly tossed it down field to Tyler Fugate for the 16-yard touchdown (Pray threw the conversion to Devan Brewer) to bring the tally to 21-28.

The Eagles closed out the third period with a touchdown, but again failed with the conversion. Going into the final frame, Johnson Central held the 36-21 lead.

Perry Central went to work as the fourth quarter began, scoring twice to tie the score at 36. On the first drive, Austin Pray hit Tyler Fugate on a route that covered 45 yards and put the Commodores in the red zone. Pray then finished off the drive with an 18-yard pass to Kegan Robinson. The conversion went from Austin Pray to Nathan Pray.

The second score went a little quicker as Austin Pray hit Darryl Beatty on a pattern that went for an 86-yard touchdown. Dylan Wooton added the tying extra point.
