The Hazard Bulldogs fell behind early Saturday during a home stand against the Garrard County Lions, showing no signs of being able to put together a comeback. But rally they did, as a strong finish late in the game lifted Hazard to the 5-4 win.

Garrard County opened the game with a single run in the opening frame. That would be the only run until the fourth inning when the Lions came across with a pair of runs, giving them the 3-0 lead. The Lions tacked on another run in the fifth inning, giving them the 4-0 advantage.

In the sixth inning, Hazard came to life, putting five runs on the board. Jacob Roll and Josh Meehan picked up back-to-back hits. Cole Ratliff got the first RBI with a ground out, scoring Roll. Nathan Stupart was hit by a pitch, and Austin Johnson loaded the bases with a single.

Meehan and Stupart would then score on a single by J.T. Haynes, and Johnson would score on an error. The go-ahead run (Haynes) would later score on an error on a Evan Whitaker hit.

The Bulldogs would then hold the Lions scoreless in the seventh, giving them the 5-4 win. Griffen Wells got the win on the mound.

Hazard stats: Austin Johnson 1 run and 1 hit, J.T. Haynes 1 run, 1 hit and 2 RBI, Griffen Wells 1 hit, Evan Whitaker 1 RBI, Jacob Roll 1 run and 1 hit, Josh Meehan 1 run and 1 hit, Cole Ratliff 1 RBI. And Nathan Stupart 1 run.
