The Perry County Central Commodore football team traveled to Manchester on Friday to take on the Clay County Tigers. The Commodores (0-2) were looking for their first win of the season against the 1-1 Tigers.

Clay County opened the game with the first touchdown. The Tigers took their first possession of the game 65 yards downfield for the touchdown (0-7).

Perry Central would get on the board next. After a strong defensive stand, the Tigers were forced to punt. Darryl Beatty took the punt 92 yards to the house, and after the Dylan Wooton extra point, the game was tied at 7.

The Tigers would get the only touchdown of the second period. Clay County finish a long drive with an 18-yard run, and went to the locker room with the 14-7 lead.

Neither team would reach the end zone in the third quarter, but seconds into the fourth period, Clay County was on the dance floor with a touchdown (21-7).

Perry Central started their next drive with a 65-yard pass play to Nathan Pray from Austin Pray. The play ended on the two-yard line, and set up a touchdown run by Austin Pray (13-21).

The Tigers continued to run down the clock with their methodical running attack, and with 4:38 remaining, they were in the end zone once again (13-28).

With time running out, the Commodores were in a hurry. They used a little over \two minutes to get their next score. Darryl Beatty hit Austin Pray on a 10-yard pass (19-28).

Clay County was able to deny Perry Central another shot at the end zone by running out the clock. The Commodores went 0-3 on the season as the Tigers collected the 28-19 win.

Receiving: Tyler Fugate 2 for 25 yards, Robert McClain 1 for 12 yards, Austin Pray 1 for 10 yards and 1 TD, and Nathan Pray 4 for 92 yards. Fumble Recovery: Daniel Messer 1. Tackles: Darryl Beatty 12, Devan Brewer 2, Austin Burkhead 1, Tyler Fugate 2, Josh Garry 5, Rickey Gibson 7, Robert McClain 6, Daniel Messer 14, Seth Napier 1, Austin Pray 5, Nathan Pray 8, Kegan Robinson 10, Michael Shepherd 3 and Cody Taylor 10.
