Youth philanthropy group awards first grant
HAZARD – A local youth-oriented philanthropy group this week awarded its very first grant. Farmers Market opens in the park
The Perry County Farmers Market opened for business on Wednesday, with only a handful of sellers offering items from tomatoes and flowering plants, to rhubarb, black walnuts, and a variety of handmade crafts. The market will open every Wednesday and Saturday through Oct. 30 at picnic shelters four and five in the Perry County Park. Hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Hazard-Perry County Farmers Market is scheduled to open again next week and run through late October. The farmers market first opened in the Perry County Park eight years ago, allowing local and regional farmers an opportunity to sell produce and handmade products.
