Early last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Pikeville to take on the Lady Panthers. The Lady Commodores fell behind early, but still managed to take the win in just five innings. Commodores outlast Buckhorn for the win
On Saturday, the Perry County Central Commodores hosted the Buckhorn Wildcats. The Wildcats got on the board first, while the Commodores would have to come from behind to collect the win. Bulldogs edge Pikeville in Panther Classic
The Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Pikeville on Saturday to play in the Panther Classic. The Bulldogs’ first opponent would be the host Pikeville Panthers. The game was tight throughout, with Hazard pulling out the win. The two teams traded runs in the first inning. Nathan Stupart drew a walk, and later scored on a single by Jordan Olinger. Bulldogs scratch Tigers 13-3 at home
A game last week between Hazard and Clay County was close in the early going, but the Bulldogs were able to break open for a 13-3 win by the time the dust settled. Hazard jumped out to the 3-0 lead in the first inning. All three runs came off a home run by Jordan Olinger. Clay County tightened the score (3-2) with a pair of runs in the second inning. Ritchie and Hylton take Soap Box Derby titles
Tthe 14th annual Soap Box Derby was held Saturday on Memorial Drive in Hazard. The winners of each year’s event (Stock and Super Stock) advance to the Nationals in Akron, Ohio. This year’s derby saw the number of drivers decline significantly, but the competition was still at a fever’s pitch. After 44 individual heats, the winners were named in each division.
