Last week, the Hazard Bulldogs hosted the Letcher Central Cougars. The Bulldogs struggled with their offense on this night, and came up short of the win. The region tennis tournament was held this past weekend at Whitesburg. Teams from across the region competed for a shot at the state tournament, and when the smoke had cleared, Hazard’s Natalie Morton stood atop the girls’ singles division, earning a trip to the state competition. Last week, the Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Williamsburg to take on the Yellow Jackets as part of the All “A” state baseball tournament. Hunters can now go online at fw.ky.gov to see if they were drawn for Kentucky’s 2013-14 elk hunts. The Commonwealth Office of Technology has selected 1,010 names from among the 34,397 people who applied for the hunts. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources received 61,051 applications from as far away as Hawaii, Alaska, Ontario, Maine, Florida and Texas. Hunters could apply for up to two permits.
