Hazard topples Wolfe

The second round of the 14th region All “A” baseball tournament saw the Hazard Bulldogs take on the Wolfe County Wolves. The Bulldogs had little trouble disposing of the Wolves as they toppled them by the final count of 14-4.Hazard picked up four runs in the bottom of the first inning, but gave three back to Wolfe County in the top half of the second inning. In the bottom of the second inning, the Bulldogs all but put the game on ice (11-3).The Bulldogs picked up a run in the third inning, putting them up 12-3. The score would stand until the seventh inning when they traded Wolfe County 1 run for 2 (14-4). The win put Hazard in the semifinals.

 

New hospital expansion prepares to open doors

HAZARD—A more than $47 million expansion project to the Hazard ARH Hospital will begin opening its doors this week.Construction began on the 100,000 square foot Joe Craft Tower, named after Perry County native Joe Craft, in 2012.
