Viper advances with 45-36 win over Leslie

After the first game of the day was cancelled, the Viper Hornets opened the 14th Region Coach's Middle School Tournament. The Hornets' opponent in the opening round was the Leslie County Colonels.

Viper set the tone for the game in opening quarter, applying tremendous defensive pressure, and scoring their points in transition. The Hornets held the Colonels scoreless through out the first period, and took a 10-0 lead into the second period.

The Colonels got their first bucket of the game at the 4:30

mark, making the score 12-2. Over the next four minutes the Hornets doubled the score, and went into the locker room with a 24-4 lead.

Viper's efforts of the first half allowed them to relax for the final twelve minutes of the game. Despite being outscored in both the third (15-9) and fourth (17-12) quarters, the game's outcome was never in jeopardy. The Hornets were able to hold on to advance in the tournament with the 45-36 win. Jacob Watts led Viper in scoring on this day with 22 points.
