The Perry County Central Commodores played their first home game this weekend. Unfortunately for Commodore fans, Perry Central was still looking for their first win of the season, and they were taking on a very good Leslie County team.
The Commodores started the game well as Jared Lucas picked off an Eagles pass on the first series of the game. Perry Central wasted little time turning the miscue into the game's first points. The Commodores took the 3-0 lead with 9:17 remaining in the first quarter with a 30-yard Ray Lee Fletcher field goal.
Leslie County countered the Perry Central field goal with a touchdown just a couple of minutes later. The Eagles missed the extra-point, giving them the 6-3 lead.
Perry Central set up their next score on the ensuing kickoff when Alfred Collins cut through the Eagle defense for a 56-yard return. The Commodores were able to take advantage of a pair of Leslie County penalties, setting up a fourth-and-goal situation. Brandon Willis completed the drive with a dive over the defense for the score. Ray Lee Fletcher added the extra-point for a 10-6 Commodore lead.
Leslie County found themselves on the goal line just moments later. The Eagles quickly drove the ball through the heart of the Commodore defense for the touchdown. They were unable to convert the extra-point attempt, giving them the 12-10 lead. The score held until the half.
The Commodore offense suffered a severe drought in the second half, and failed to put any points on the board. Leslie County on the other hand was able to find the end zone three more times to secure the 32-10 win.
