Perry downs Leslie 9-4

On Tuesday, the Perry County Central Commodores hosted the Leslie County Eagles in the Park. The Commodores put together a trio of rallies to ground the Eagles 9-4 in seven innings.

The Commodores lit their side of the scoreboard in the second inning, putting three runs across the plate. Perry Central then cooled off until the fifth inning when they touched the dish three more times.

Leslie County’s drought came to an end in the sixth inning as they managed a pair of runs to cut the margin to 6-2. Perry Central erased the runs, and added another, in the bottom of the inning (9-2).

Leslie County tried to mount a comeback in the seventh inning, but could muster only two runs in the frame. Perry Central went on to win the game by the final count of 9-4.

Roy Gay picked up the win for the Commodores, going five innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hit. He struck out 5 and walked 1. Taylin Goodson closed out the game with 3 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.
