Corbin Stacy, 76, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15 at the hospice care center in Hazard.
He was born October 5, 1935 in Hazard, the son of the late Preston Stacy and the late Laura Melton Stacy, and was also preceded in death by brothers Carl and Preston Stacy, Jr.; sisters Nora Young, Roberta Pollard and Harriet Melton; grandsons Samuel and Brandon Childers; and granddaughter Jessica Ann Stacy.
He was a retired coal miner, and enjoyed squirrel hunting and working in the garden.
He is survived by his companion, Mary Stacy of Viper; sons Monroe Coots of Indiana, Corbin Stacy, Jr. of Indiana, Carl Stacy and wife Sue of London, Preston Stacy of Viper, and Carson Stacy and wife Tammy of Indiana; daughters Mary Finns and husband Kenny of Cumberland, Tammy Joseph of Viper, Mallie Fields and husband Craig of Viper, Laura Childers and husband Eugene of Viper, Freda Fields and husband George of Viper, and Peggy Caudill and husband James of Viper; brother David Stacy and wife Rosa of Tennessee; sisters Edna Hamilton of Wooton, Millie Ann Coots of Grapevine, Dorothy Coots and husband Jim of Georgia, Brenda Tanner of Indiana, Vina Eversole of Hazard, and Zona Eversole and husband Kerman of Virginia; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 20, at noon at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard with Rodney Eversole officiating. The interment will follow in the Eversole-Stacy Family Cemetery located at Big Creek.The visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
