The Hazard Bulldogs hosted the Buckhorn Wildcats in soccer action last week at Daniel Field. The Bulldogs opened the regular season with Buckhorn and came away with the 11-1 win.
The Bulldogs picked up their first goal of the game when Collier Mobelini found Justin Combs in the box. Combs finished the play, earning him his first career goal. Ten minutes later, Bryant Fugate passed a ball sharply into the box, but the ball did not hit anyone and went into the goal for the 2-0 advantage.
Collier Mobelini struck for his first goal of his career just six minutes later. Kolby Hillman found Mobelini in the box, and placed a nice pass right at his foot. The goal sent Hazard to the half with the 3-0 lead.
Hazard scored twice in the second frame. The first came as Cameron Johnson scored his first career goal on a long pass by Kolby Hillman. Two minutes later, Bryant Fugate scored his second goal of the night on a slow roller through the middle of the defense.
Spencer Hansen had two saves in goal, earning him his fifth career shutout.
Hazard coach Stephen Wayne later said of the game, “It was a great opportunity for the less experienced kids to get a lot of action.”
