Treehouse Cafe on Hazard’s Main Street hosted the first in what is hoped to become a monthly series of evening readings where writers can showcase their work in an open mic format. Several writers took the microphone on Saturday, including the evening’s organizer, Travis Stidham, who said afterward that he is hopeful to host a reading in Hazard each month. Next month's reading will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.
