Man gets trial date in rape case

HAZARD – A Perry County man indicted for allegedly raping an underage girl was given a trial date Thursday during his arraignment in Perry Circuit Court.

Stephon Slone, 31, of Scuddy, is facing one count of first-degree rape. He was indicted Oct. 5 on allegations that he forced the girl to engage in sexual intercourse on Feb. 2, 2011. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison on the charge, for which he pleaded not guilty to on Thursday.

Slone is due back in court for a pretrial conference on Feb. 27, and is currently scheduled to go to trial on April 8.
