The Perry County Central Lady Commodores hosted the Hazard Lady Bulldogs last week in the 53rd district soccer tournament. The Lady Commodores took the early lead, and cruised to the 9-1 win.

The first four goals of the game were scored by senior Ashley Morris (all came in the first 22 minutes of the game). Morris picked up two of the goals by taking on the defense one-on-one, while the other two came via the assist from Brandi Campbell.

At the 25th minute, the Lady Commodores went up 5-0 as Kesley Lowe chased down a loose ball and took on the goalie. Brandi Campbell closed out the first half with a goal as she took down the defense and the goalie by herself. Perry Central went into the break with the 6-0 lead.

Kelsey Lowe opened the second half with back-to-back goals. Lowe hauled in a couple of long kicks and deposited them in the goal (8-0). The two goals completed Lowe’s hat-trick.

The Lady Bulldogs would pick up their lone goal at the 79 minute mark. Tiffany Combs assisted Carmen Shepherd on her way to the goal (8-1).

The final goal of the game came just before the final whistle. Zada Campbell took a pass from Sarah Melton, and deposited a long shot from outside the box just out of the goalie’s reach.

Perry Central moved into the championship game with the 9-1 win. Makayla Lewis had 1 save for the Lady Commodores.
