The Perry County Central Commodores began the 14th region tournament with the team that possessed the best record in the region, the Jackson City Tigers. The Commodores came out with a strong effort by the defense, and rode an early lead to the 3-1 win.
After a 20-minute back-and-forth battle, Jackson City picked up the first goal. The Tigers’ goal came after an over-aggressive play by the Commodores ended up in the net. The Commodores would shortly receive similar help from Jackson City.
Dylan Wooton was able to tie the game after a ball deflected off a Tiger defender, and Wooton alertly deposited it in the goal (1-1). Early in the second half, Corey Mullis played a ball to the center of the field where Tyler Mullins picked it up and netted the 2-1.
Perry Central picked up an insurance goal late in the game as Dylan Wooton received a free kick for a foul just shy of the box. Wooton made good on the shot, making the score 3-1.
The Commodores went on to win the game by the final tally of 3-1, advancing to the championship game.
