Officials in Hazard and Perry County have moved trick-or-treat times for local children due to the inclement weather causing snow across the region.

Trick-or-treat night, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, will now be on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. after the massive hurricane Sandy hit the eastern seaboard, bringing snow and frigid temperatures to Eastern Kentucky. The storm also closed schools in the county school district.

Temperatures will be around 50 degrees for the high on Thursday compared to the 38 degrees for the original date of Tuesday. Thursday is also supposed to be mostly sunny, but only a slight chance of any rain, according to local weather reports.

What's wrong with having Halloween on Wednesday, you know, the ACTUAL day of Halloween, October 31st? Here's an idea: from now on let's have Halloween every year on October 31st. Then local officials never have to worry about putting out a bulletin about what day Halloween is going to be held on. I've lived in many places in this country of ours, but only here do they have Halloween on some other day than the 31st. Why is that?
