Michael L. Thompson, 55, of Hazard, died Monday, Oct. 29 at the Hazard ARH medical center.

He was a conductor for CSX Railroad, and the son of Barbara Jean Farrell and the late Jace Thompson, and was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Carl Jones.

He is also survived by his wife, Sonja Thompson; sons Jason Carl Thompson, and Michael Scott Thompson and Vickie; step-father Elmer Farrell; sister Faye Shannon and husband Charlie; brothers Tim Farrell, Arnold Thompson and wife Reva, and Otis Thompson and wife Kitten; mother-in-law Helen Jones; brothers-in-law Mike Jones and wife Tamara, Greg Jones and wife Heather, and Rolo Jones and wife Jennifer; special niece Brittany Jones; and grandchildren Kynnedi Jace Thompson, Montanna Thompson, Micah Thompson, and Alexis Mills.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1. Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 with Travis France and Joseph Engle officiating. Interment will be at the Jones Cemetery at Lost Creek.
