The Buckhorn Wildcats played a district game with the Leslie County Eagles early last week. The Wildcats jumped out to a big early lead, and held on for the win.

Buckhorn could do no wrong in the first period, and heated up the nets with a strong offense. On the other side of the floor, Leslie County was struggling to find their range. At the horn, the Wildcats held the 23-6 lead.

The Eagles completely changed the tone of the game in the second period, taking on the role of aggressor. Buckhorn went ice cold, but managed to salvage a 29-24 lead at the break.

Both teams played even in the third period, with Buckhorn managing to tack a few points onto their lead (44-36). The pace hit a fevered pitch in the fourth quarter, with the Wildcats pulling out the 73-62 win.

Buckhorn (73) Hoskins 23, Cooper 15, Crank 15, Estep 10, Cole 8 and Boggs 2.

Leslie Co. (62) Couch 17, Sizemore 17, Asher 10, J. Bray 8, Collett 6 and B. Bray 4.
