Early last week, the Perry County Central Commodores hosted the Breathitt County Bobcats. The Commodores fell behind early but managed a second half rally to force overtime. It would take two overtimes before Perry Central could pull out the win.

Perry Centrals started the first period with the lead, but gave way to a Breathitt County rally. The Bobcats finished the period with the 13-12 lead.

Breathitt County managed to stay one-step ahead of Perry Central in the second period, and was able to tack a few points onto their lead. The Commodores went into the locker room trailing 32-24.

The Commodores could not break the Bobcats’ hold on the momentum early in the third period, but as the frame wore on, Perry Central took control. The Commodores finished with an advantage, and went into the final period still trailing 46-40.

Perry Central was able to take the lead in the fourth quarter, and with a few seconds remaining held the three-point advantage. Breathitt County hit a late shot to force an overtime period.

Nothing was settled in the overtime period, putting more time on the clock. The Commodores exploded in the second overtime, posting their best point total. The rally was good enough to net them the 81-70 win.

Justin Johnson notched a double-double in the game.

Perry Central (81) Braxton Beverly 20 (8 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals), Austin Pray 3 (4 rebounds and 1 steal), Travis Stacy 8 (2 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal), Justin Johnson 18 (1 assist and 12 rebounds), Dalton Cornett 22 (3 assists, 4 blocks, 12 rebounds and 1 steal), Darryl Beatty (1 assist and 3 rebounds), Austin Hill 10 (2 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals) and Tyler Fugate (1 rebound).
