The A. B. Combs Bearcats and the Dennis Wooton Eagles kicked off the 2013 Perry County 6th grade tournament this week. The Bearcats fell behind early, but managed a rall, and went on to the double-digit win.

It was all Dennis Wooton in the first quarter as the Eagles were hitting from all over the floor. The Bearcats struggled to get a good look at the goal, and fell behind big at the horn (14-5).

The A. B. Combs pressure began to take its toll on the Eagles midway through the second frame. The confusion allowed the Bearcats to make a run at the lead. But it was the Eagles that went into the locker room with the 21-17 advantage.

The momentum stayed with the Bearcats in the third period, and they eventually took the lead. A. B. Combs closed out the period strong, and with six minutes remaining held the 32-26 lead.

Dennis Wooton picked up the pace in the final period in an attempt to get back in the game. However, A. B. Combs held their ground and moved on in the tournament with the 42-31 win.

A. B. Combs (42) Ryan Couch 7, Dylan Eddington 7, Noah Caudill 14, Jordan Caudill 5 and Dalton Bryant 9.

Dennis Wooton (31) Dylan Chaney 8, Dylan Combs 5, Jayden neace 12, Alex Ritchie 2, Trevor Spurlock 3 and Preston Mullins 1.
