Game two of the 8th grade tournament put the Buckhorn Wildcats and the Leatherwood Wildcats on the floor. Buckhorn took control of the game from the opening tap, and did not look back as they won the battle of Wildcats 55-36.

Buckhorn was able to use their size to dominate the paint on both sides of the floor in the opening period. They managed a near double-digit lead (13-4) at the horn.

Despite their cool shooting, Leatherwood managed to keep Buckhorn within striking distance in the second period. Buckhorn picked up a couple of late baskets and went into the locker room with the 22-9 lead.

Buckhorn came out of the break strong and pushed the lead to over 20 points. Leatherwood still struggled from the floor, and fell behind 40-15 going into the final period.

Leatherwood began to light up the scoreboard in the fourth period, but it would not be enough to erase their deficit. Buckhorn moved into the second round with the 55-36 win.

Austin Williams led Leatherwood with 12 points, while Jarred Griffith led Buckhorn, and all scorers, with 14 points.

Buckhorn (55) Shannon Blank 13, Austin Bennett 11, Jarred Griffith 14, Nick Stidham 8, Daniel Hurley 3, James Noble 2 and Josh Noble 4.

Leatherwood (36) Bobby Shepherd 11, Kameron Davidson 11, Austin Williams 12 and Tanner Whitaker 2.
