The Hazard Lady Bulldogs and the Leslie County Lady Eagles took to the hardwood for a chance to play for the 54th district JV title. The Lady Bulldogs took the early lead, but could not pull off the win.

Hazard was strong on the inside early in the game, and went up 11-8. However, in the second period, Leslie County came alive and tightened the game. Going into the break, the Lady Bulldogs’ lead was a scant one point (17-16).

Nothing was settled in the third period, as the period ended in a seven-all tie. The Lady Bulldogs’ looks at the basket were limited in the fourth quarter, and the Lady Eagle pulled into the lead. Hazard was unable to convert late, and Leslie County moved on with the 30-27 win.

Hazard (27) C. Johnson 9, B. Sparkman 2 and K. Caudill 16.

Leslie Co. (30) K. Farler 5, S. Sparks 5, M. Combs 8 and E. Griffith 12.
