The Perry County Central Lady Commodores resumed their quest for the 14th region title, and a return to the state tournament, early last week. Their semifinal opponent would be the Wolfe County Lady Wolves.

The Perry Central press proved to be too much from the opening tip. The Lady Commodores began to pile up the points in transition, and before the first period reached the midway point Perry Central held the double-digit lead. At the horn, the Lady Commodores held the 17-6 lead.

Little changed in the second period as Perry Central continued to extend their margin. The Lady Commodores went into the break with enough points on the board to secure the win (38-15).

Just a few minutes into the third period, the Lady Commodore starters found themselves on the bench cheering on their teammates. The Lady Wolves would put together their only double-digit frame, but it would do little to deter Perry Central. Going into the final period, the Lady Commodores were up 59-28.

Perry Central would clear their bench in the fourth quarter, and managed to push the clock into continuous motion. The contest would then end quietly, with the Lady Commodores taking the win by the final tally of 72-34, putting them in the final game.

Perry Central (72) Kayla Rankin 17, Whitney Back 13, Randi Carol Napier 8, Pam Sebastian 4, Whitney Evans 8, Lyndci Combs 12, Perri Coots 6, Rachel Curry 2 and Maddison Minks 2.

Wolfe Co. (34) Cassie Spencer 8, Brittany Ross 4, Jessica Hurt 9, Kaylee Miller 5, Lydia McIntosh 3 and Kendra Wilougby 5.
