The Buckhorn Wildcats opened their Saturday with an early game against the June Buchanan Crusaders. The Wildcats lost their first game of the season, while this was the first game for the Crusaders in more than 10 years.

After quickly sitting the Crusaders down in the first inning, the Wildcats chalked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning (2-0). Buckhorn continued to mow down the June Buchanan batters in the second inning, and then topped off the frame with four more runs (6-0).

In the third inning, the Wildcats were able to stymie the Crusaders once again, and once again, put four runs on the board (10-0). June Buchanan showed a flash of offense in the fourth inning, but Buckhorn quickly dashed their hopes of keeping the game alive. The Wildcats did not score in the bottom of the frame.

Buckhorn only needed to keep the Crusaders from crossing the plate in the fifth inning to end the game early. June Buchanan did not show any sign of offense in the inning, giving the Wildcats the 10-0 win.

Richard Stidham received the win on the mound, going three innings with 0 hits, 0 walks and 8 strikeouts. Alex Stokley threw two innings with 1 hit and 0 runs.

Buckhorn stats: Scotty Blank 2 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBI; Johnavan Stidham 2 hits, 1 run and 2 RBI; Richard Stidham 3 RBI; and Daniel Hurley 1 hit.
