A group of members from Fern Willow Baptist Church have bolstered the emergency response capabilities in Perry County.

Judge-Executive Denny Ray Noble last week recognized 22 men and women who recently completed training through the Community Emergency Response Team program. The program was implemented in the wake of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 in an effort to improve local preparedness for disasters both man-made and natural.

The Fern Willow members recognized last week are now trained to respond in a bevy of emergency situations, making them able to render certain types of aid and coordinate community emergency resources until authorities can arrive on the scene.

Those members trained in the CERT program are: Ruth Miller, Clell Miller, Brandon Gayheart, Kimberly Gayheart, Maxine Hudson, Don Hudson, Ronald Kelly, Mike Napier, Christie Herald, Amos Herald, Doug Hornsby, Ann Robinson, Trever Robinson, Helen Williams, Langley Owsley, Bobby Williams, William Tackett, Sherri Muha, Brett Muha, Brenda Colwell, Helen Fugate, and Beverly Spencer.
