The Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Boyd County last week to take on the Lions. Both teams broke out the bats in this contest, running up the tally. However, the Lions would get the better of the Bulldogs 12-11.
The Bulldogs fell behind 3-1 in the first inning, but knotted the game at three in the second inning. Hazard then took the lead in the third inning with two runs (5-3).
Boyd County came back with a pair of runs in the fourth inning (5-5), and added to their total in the fifth (9-5). Hazard got all the runs back, and one in the sixth inning, giving them the 11-9 lead.
The lead would not last long as the Lions plated three runs in the bottom of the inning (11-12). The Bulldogs were unable to rally in the seventh, giving the win to Boyd County 11-12.
Griffin Wells took the loss, going one inning, giving up one run with three walks and one strikeout. Blake Nidiffer went a third of a inning, giving up three runs, and Kameron Conley picked up five strikeouts with six walks during four-plus innings.
