HAZARD – Two men originally charged with robbery pleaded guilty to lesser charges this week during an appearance in circuit court.
Brandon D. Combs, 31, of Red Fox, and 25-year-old Randall K. Mullins, of Hazard, were indicted in September 2012 on allegations that they threatened an employee of the Huddle House in Hazard during the course of a theft on June 5, 2012.
According to police at the time, Combs and Mullins were eating at the restaurant when they told a server that they had a gun, and then demanded money. Police reported the two had left the restaurant with a little over $100 in cash. They were later located and arrested at the American’s Best Value Inn on Morton Blvd.
Combs and Mullins originally faced charges of first-degree robbery, a Class B felony punishable by a maximum of 20 years in prison. According to a plea agreement announced Thursday in Perry Circuit Court, however, they each pleaded guilty to theft over $500, a Class D felony, in exchange for a total of five years to serve. They will also be required to pay $150 in restitution to the Huddle House.
The two are scheduled to be sentenced on May 30.
