Vacation Bible School at Bible Baptist Church


Everyone is invited to Vacation Bible School at Bible Baptist Church this Sunday through Wednesday, June 9-12. Don’t miss the fun and excitement of the Bible stories, singing, games, contests, food, prizes, crafts, and treats. Children age 4 to adults are welcome to attend starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday, and at 6:30 Monday through Wednesday. Vacation Bible School at Consolidated Baptist Church


Consolidated Baptist Church invites children ages 3 through grade 6 for Club VBS: Jungle Jaunt. Get ready for an awesome adventure that is too good to miss. The focus will be “Life with the One True God.” Youth and adult classes are also available. Transportation provided, if needed. The adventure begins at Consolidated Baptist Church, 180 Winterberry Street, June 10-14 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. Vacation Bible School Talcum Mennonite


Talcum Mennonite Church will hold its Vacation Bible School June 10-14 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. The school is for children four years old through youth. Transportation is provided. For more information, call 606-251-3303.


Vacation Bible School at Petry Memorial


Petrey Memorial Baptist Church will host its Vacation Bible School, “Colossal Coaster World, Facing Fear, Trusting God.” The school will run June 10 through June 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. Church buses will run.


Kristie Combs Hall of Fame Basketball Camp


Kristie Combs will host her annual basketball camp at Hazard’s Memorial Gym July 9-11 for boys and girls grades K-8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each evening. Cost is $35. For more information call 233-2045.


Coach Harold Brashear’s summer basketball camp


Coach Harold Brashear’s summer basketball camp will be held June 17-20, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each evening at Memorial Gym in Hazard. The camp is for players kindergarten through 8th grade. Players will be divided into age groups based on ability and gender. All players will receive a T-shirt and trophy, and compete for awards. Camp fee is $50. Camp Nathanael Day Camp

Three Bridges southern gospel concert


First Baptist Church of Hazard will host the Three Bridges southern gospel concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 7. For more information call 436-3533.


Women’s club tea party


It’s tea time! The Hazard-Perry County Women’s Club will hold the Second Annual Tea Party on Saturday, June 8 at the First Presbyterian Church from 2 to 4 p.m. The entertainment will include ballet dancing, a delicious meal will be served, door prizes will be awarded, and information about tea will be presented – all for only $15 a person. The price is only $10 for those ages 5 to 10 and age 4 and younger are admitted for free. Upon arrival, each little girl will be presented with a hat she can decorate for wearing at the tea. Also at the luncheon, two awards will be presented — Professional Business Woman of the Year and Mother of the Year. To purchase tickets in advance, call 436-3158.

Music in the Mountains Contemporary Singing


Amanda Combs, Hazard native, is excited to share her vocal knowledge with her hometown during a 4-day camp at Hazard Community and Technical College for students in grades 7 - 12. Amanda is working on her Masters of Music degree at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. The camp will run Monday - Thursday, June 10 - 13, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at HCTC’s First Federal Center, Rooms 123 B and C. The camp will conclude with a concert on Thursday night. Amanda will teach students breathing techniques, sound placement, relaxation/relaxed vowels, stage presence, how to use a microphone, and some songwriting. Depending on the interest of the class, the All State Choral piece may be included. The camp will also allow time for group, trio, duo, and solo work. Space is limited to 15 students. Music in the Mountains Choral Camp


Come spend the week at Hazard Community and Technical College with Hazard native Mark Fields who is back for his third year with Music in the Mountains. Mark will be teaching singers from grades 2 to 6. During the week, June 10 - 14, Mark will focus on vocal technique, musicianship, basic music reading skills, performance etiquette and, most importantly, having FUN! The camp will conclude with a concert on Friday night. The day camp will run from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the HCTC First Federal Center, Room 123-A. Career Craze to focus on Energy


A Career Craze Camp will be held for those ages 12 to 15 interested in coal careers. The Coal Career Program will cover the history, development, uses, and environmental concerns associated with the coal industry while exploring future career opportunities available for youth in Eastern Kentucky. The camp will be held at the Technical Campus of Hazard Community and Technical College June 17 to 20. CPR training offered


Hazard Community and Technical College will offer CPR training. This class is ideal for those wanting to enroll in an Allied Health Program.
