Vacation Bible School at Bulan Community Baptist Church
The Bulan Community Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School June 17-21, from 3 to 5 p.m. daily for all ages. There will be Bible studies from the journeys of Paul, puppets, refreshments, singing, fellowship, and fun.
Vacation Bible School at Consolidated Baptist Church
Consolidated Baptist Church invites children ages 3 through grade 6 for Club VBS: Jungle Jaunt. Get ready for an awesome adventure that is too good to miss. Vacation Bible School at Petry Memorial
Petrey Memorial Baptist Church will host its Vacation Bible School, “Colossal Coaster World, Facing Fear, Trusting God.” The school will run June 10 through June 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. Church buses will run.
Kristie Combs Hall of Fame Basketball Camp
Kristie Combs will host her annual basketball camp at Hazard’s Memorial Gym July 9-11 for boys and girls grades K-8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each evening. Cost is $35. For more information call 233-2045.
Coach Harold Brashear’s summer basketball camp
Coach Harold Brashear’s summer basketball camp will be held June 17-20, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each evening at Memorial Gym in Hazard. The camp is for players kindergarten through 8th grade. Players will be divided into age groups based on ability and gender. All players will receive a T-shirt and trophy, and compete for awards. Camp fee is $50. Breathitt County Fair Pageant
Breathitt County Fair Pageant will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 1 p.m. in the Breathitt County Senior Citizens Center in Jackson, Kentucky. This is a Kentucky Fair Association Preliminary open to all Kentucky residents. Ages are birth to 7-years for boys and birth to 21 years for girls. Dress is play wear or Sunday wear for ages 7 years and below and formal wear for ages 8 and up. No entries at door. Entry fee is $40 and must be received by June 24. Career Craze to focus on Energy
A Career Craze Camp will be held for those ages 12 to 15 interested in coal careers. The Coal Career Program will cover the history, development, uses, and environmental concerns associated with the coal industry while exploring future career opportunities available for youth in Eastern Kentucky. The camp will be held at the Technical Campus of Hazard Community and Technical College June 17 to 20. Implementing Evidence-Based Practices with Offender Populations
Hazard Community and Technical College will offer a training session entitled “Implementing Evidence-Based Practices with Offender Populations” on Tuesday, June 25 at 1 p.m. in the Jolly Classroom Center, room 229. Walter Smith, HCTC Criminal Justice Program Coordinator, will facilitate the training covering: What are evidenced-based practices, research based elements of successful programs, successful practices in allocation of services, and identifying criminogenic needs, risk, and responsivity. This training session is open to a wide variety of professionals, including those who are: police officers, Probation and Parole, Court Designated Workers, Kentucky Domestic Violence, Department of Juvenile Justice, county attorney, public defenders, juvenile detention, pretrial services, drug court, comprehensive care, family court, circuit court, district judges, district court, prisons, and jails. Photography class offered at Lees
A Photography 101 class with Shelly Bolen will be offered on Tuesdays, May 21 to June 18 at HCTC’s Breathitt Life Skills Center.
