HAZARD – Hazard City Manager Paul Feltner is set to retire at the end of this week following a 33-year career in City Hall.

Mayor Bill Gorman announced Feltner’s plans to retire in a letter dated January 14, which also named his successor, current Superintendent of Public Works Carlos Combs.

Mayor Gorman wrote that Feltner will end his service to the City of Hazard at the end of the day on Friday, January 15.

“We wish to thank Mr. Feltner for his many years of dedicated service to the City of Hazard and to its people,” wrote Gorman. “We wish him well in all his future endeavors.”

Gorman also noted that Carlos Combs has been appointed interim City Manager effective immediately following Feltner’s official retirement. Combs is expected to be officially hired as City Manager at the city commission’s regular meeting on Monday, February 1.

Paul Feltner was hired as the Hazard City Manager in 1977.
